Safety measures of earthquake

Earthquake cannot be predicted since it occurs suddenly. By the following methods we can minimize the adverse effects of an earthquake: earthquake resistant buildings should be built. The old buildings also can be improved by retrofitting. If we are outside the houses at the time of earthquake, we should move in an open place away from building, tall trees, steep slopes and power lines. If we are inside the houses during earthquake, we should not rush to the door but we should try to protect our life by hiding our body under door frame, a cot, table or any other such strong furniture until the shaking stops.
